Easter Seals Southwestern Illinois has been providing exceptional services to individuals with special needs and their families in Southwestern Illinois and Missouri for 80 years. With offices in Alton, St. Louis and Central Missouri, Easter Seals provides services across the lifespan, serving more than 5,100 individuals last year ranging from age 6 weeks to 100 years – 561 of these people are living with autism. Easter Seals has services accredited by NAEYC and provides community based assistance through inclusive Child Development Center’s, speech, physical and occupational therapies, adult day care and day habilitation services, in-home supports, emergency residential services, and day camping services.

Description of Program Services:

Early Intervention Services

Early intervention is a collection of services for infants and toddlers and their families who have delays in development or who are at risk of developmental delays. Easter Seals Early Intervention program supports and teaches families how to play with their children in ways that will help them learn essential skills. Easter Seals early education specialist provides home based visits to help young children with special needs and their parents get the best start possible in learning. Easter Seals is a provider for the Illinois Early Intervention program.

Lekotek / Lending Library

Lekotek uses interactive play experiences, and the learning that results, to promote the inclusion of young children with special needs into family and community life. Easter Seals certified Lekotek leader visits children in their home and helps families learn fun, creative and healthy ways to play together and to include their children into family and community activities. Children and families borrow adapted and traditional toys, books and software from our toy lending libraries for use at home.

Kids Are Riding Safely (KARS)

Easter Seals specialized car seat loan program ensures infants and older children with disabilities ride in vehicles safely.

Residential Supports at Easter Seals Lodge

Easter Seals fully staffed, three-bedroom home in South St. Louis city provides short term respite and crisis care for children and adults with disabilities. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 363 days a year
